How Tamra Bentley Lives United!
Tamra Bentley epitomizes what it means to be a Loyal Contributor. She began donating to United Way of Lapeer County in 1986 upon starting her first job in the finance industry. When asked why, after so many years, does she continues to contribute to United Way she replied, “By donating to United Way I can make a bigger impact. I can give to many rather than just a few. “
As a young child Tamra was taught to be involved in her community. Today she is helping make Lapeer County a better place to live. By starting at home she has instilled in her children the importance of being a good citizen in school and around our community. At work she encourages employees to help those in our community who need help by supporting the annual United Way Campaign. As a Vice President at CSB Bank, Tamra is proud to say that,” CSB Bank is a big supporter of United Way. We give our employee’s incentives (for charitable giving) and have fun doing it.” In Lapeer County she is a dedicated volunteer.
She calls herself a self-professed people-person, “I love getting to know people. I’ve been involved in various community service clubs and agencies including the Lapeer DAA, Imlay City Rotary, and as a volunteer for Lapeer Community Schools.”
It soon became obvious to board members that Tamra would be a good candidate to nominate for a seat on the United Way Board of Directors. All Directors generously volunteer their time and expertise giving valuable input into the operations of United Way of Lapeer County. Upon accepting her nomination she joined a dedicated group of fine individuals; within a few years she accepted another nomination as Vice President of the United Way of Lapeer County Board of Directors. “I enjoy being involved in United Way because it is county wide. We are able to help many people all over Lapeer County. “
“There have been many accomplishments our United Way has gained for Lapeer County,” Tamra sited.”211 is a great example of what a community can do to help when we work together.” 211 is the new information and referral service that anyone in Lapeer County can dial to receive information and resources on non-emergency concerns or on donating or volunteer opportunities.
Tamra is a great example of someone who is making a positive difference. For 27 years she has donated to United Way. That in itself has made a tremendous impact in our community; yet in addition to her many years of philanthropy, she has shared her vast knowledge and expertise in the world of finance and has helped implement worthy programs that continue to strengthen our community by helping families, children and individuals live a better life. Thank you Tamra you are a wonderful example of what it means to Live United.
