Residents Feed the Hungry Through Donations to the United Way Fund

Every year at tax time, taxpayers have the opportunity to help their less fortunate neighbors when they file their Michigan State tax returns.  Lapeer County residents made an impact right here in their own community by donating to the United Way Fund.  The fund was established in 2009 to help provide emergency food, clothing and shelter to the Michigan residents hardest hit by the economic downturn.  Donations are distributed based on the taxpayer's zip code, so local residents are guaranteed that the money comes home to help their friends and neighbors.  This year's donations totaled nearly $2,000 for Lapeer County.

Thanks to all of you who contributed at tax time this year! If you'd like to direct a portion of your 2011 tax return to help needy families, ask your tax preparer to file form 4642 and "check off" the United Way Fund.

Reports to the Community

It's important to us to let you know where your donations are going and what they are doing.  If you have designated your donation to a specific agency or program, then you can rest assured that that is where your donation will be sent.  For those of you who have donated to Influence the Condition of All or the United Way Community Impact Fund (the normal United Way donation) then you can click on the links to view our documents that outline where the money went and what it was spent on. Please remember if you donated in Lapeer County or work outside the county but designated your donation to Lapeer County, it will stay here in Lapeer County and be put to work.
